At least 500 people showed up at casting calls Monday, Jan. 23, in Boulder Creek and Santa Cruz to work as extras in “The Tripper,” a movie that begins filming this week in the Santa Cruz area. Directed by David Arquette, the movie will be shot over the next four weeks. The plot involves a conservative logger who is on a rampage to kill a bunch of hippies.
